How To Read Any Difficult Book

When you start a book that seems tough, you don’t have to struggle.

I write a lot of philosophy. And I read a lot of philosophy. But I don’t stop there. I read physiology. Pharmacology. Physics. Medicine. Chemistry. Nanotechnology.

All sorts of amazing stuff is going on around us in science and the arts, but many of us don’t really read anymore. We’ll take in political essays, magazine articles, and Facebook posts — but we count on secondhand reporting to tell us the facts.

Let’s be real: this is easier than reading everything, right?
