Materialism vs. Materiality - A Philosophical Analysis.

Be a collector, not a consumer.

Materialism is that inclination in which we do not respect the materials (and by a philosophical extension — people) around us, because every one of them is replaceable. Whereas materiality is that inclination, in which we respect the materials by virtue of the memories embedded in them.

Hundreds of stupid flies gather
On a piece of rotten meat,
Enjoying, they think, a delicious feast.
This image fits with the song
Of the myriads of foolish living beings
Who seek happiness in superficial pleasures;
In countless ways they try,
Yet I have never seen them satisfied.
